Midea’s Duo MP12S1TBL is rated as a quiet and effective portable air conditioner. The Dual is a rare portable incorporating a variable regenerative compressor which permits better temperature control. The Inverter is usually less expensive. The Duo is a second-generation dual-hose model called for testing since 2018. This unique design combines intake and exhaust lines into one large hose.

What about dual-hose models?
From 2019 onwards our comparison was done using two-hose models according to the same criteria. We were eventually guided by a single-cylinder model based on research, but partly on the fact that so many new models employ such an approach in their production processes.
We did find no compelling brand new double hoses from major brands in 2020 (though some were introduced in 2020, including our latest choice of double hoses). Owner reviews also suggest that the vast majority of consumers prefer single-hose models, because they are simpler to install, but not so much as an enormous Octopus trash sculpture.
It does not bother me personally because I like loud white noise and I use headphones when working or gaming. But I am shocked how loud it is.
